Gypsy, movies, & a stomach bug

This was an interesting week for Tobin and I. On Tuesday, it was just the two of us since I didn't have Emerson (the little girl I keep during the week). First we went to the park to play and while we were there, we found a stray dog. I called the number on Gypsy's tag and the owner came to pick her up right away. Tobin was precious about the whole thing. He kept saying "We help Gypsy go home" and "I a hero!" I love hearing him talk about it.

After the park, we went to eat lunch with Matt at school. We've never done this before and it was a very nice treat for all of us.

Then we went home for a quick nap and as soon as Tobin woke up, we went to Frisco to see the Veggie Tales movie. This was Tobin's very first movie experience and I was a little nervous about how he'd handle the dark theater and loud sounds. When it first got dark and the screen came to life, he looked up at me nervously and I just said "Wow!" and then he said "wow!" and he was fine the rest of the movie. We got a small bag of popcorn and he devoured the entire thing throughout the movie. I think that was his favorite part...he even chose popcorn over M&Ms!! It made for a great mommy and Tobin afternoon!

We had a great rest of the week...playing with friends and enjoying the sporadic good weather. Then Friday hits. Tobin woke up from his nap and called out to me in a panic. I rushed into his room and he looked at me and says "Mommy, I spit." I look down at the little guy and he's covered in vomit. This is the first time we've encountered this as parents and it changed me. I just scooped him up, held him, and told him it was okay. He was scared and stinky and all I wanted to do was make him feel better. It's like diapers...you can handle your own kid's dirty stuff without any disgust or squeamishness. Anyway, he was sick all afternoon and into the night but by the time he could no longer keep his eyes open around 8:00, he seemed okay and was keeping the tummy medicine down. He went to bed and slept fine throughout the night and is gradually feeling better. It was quite an experience for me as a first time mom and one I know will repeat itself many times in the years to come. Now I know I can handle it and that all that matters is helping our little guy feel better... forget laundry and sanitizing the house!

Enough about our gross day...thanks for caring about us enough to read about it!!
