This is from our trip to the zoo on Thursday. Very fun, but very crowded.

We hope everyone had a blessed Easter. What a special day to remember Christ's love and sacrifice for our sins. From my favorite hymn:

Death to a pine

Matt has spring break this week and it has been a treat for all of us. It hasn't been all fun and games though. When we moved into our house almost a year ago, we've had big plans to re-landscape our front yard. Okay...MATT has had big plans. I don't really like yard work ever since Mom made me help with her dreadful holly growing up. I'm also really terrible at keeping green things alive. It's amazing to me that Tobin is thriving when I can't even keep ivy alive! I have volunteered to help Matt pull weeds, rake dead stuff, and pick up rocks. That's the extent of my green thumb.

So far, Matt has dug up our front shrubs and the pine tree that was dangerously close to and beginning to lean towards our roof. You could tell what a threat it was in our previous post about the snowstorm. Here's some pictures of today's tree wreckage:

Tobin has had a lot of fun helping his daddy in the yard. He received a set of gardening tools and has copied every move that Matt makes. Also, he discovered that rolly pollys aren't a threat and that it's pretty fun to hold them in your hands. He tells me over and over again that it tickles and he loves rolly pollys. Very cute...

Tomorrow we're planting new shrubs, a new tree, and hopefully some flowers if we have time. I'll post some pictures of Matt's beautiful yard as soon as we're done.

Big Boy Bed

This weekend we set up Tobin's "big boy room". We moved out the crib and brought in a twin bed. Here's some pictures of Tobin helping set it up:

He's sleeping great in it. I was, of course, worried about him getting out and playing or coming to find us. He doesn't seem to have figured that out yet. He can get in and out of his bed on his own, I guess he just knows to stay put when it's time to sleep!

Special thanks to Mom for the great "Bear Camping" bedding. Also, thank you Penny, Logan, Adam, and Becca for your hard work bringing it to us and putting the bed together and to Clyde for letting us use his childhood bed!

Snow day

We had so much snow at our house yesterday! Mainly we just watched it fall since I have a sincere hatred for being cold. But we did play a little when Matt got home from school. He has a snow day today so we're happy that we get a three day weekend! Here's some pictures from yesterday:This is the view from our front porch. The cedar tree was so full of snow, it drooped down and was resting on the car.

Tobin loved the snow, of course, but Lucy and Dilly struggled. The snow was up to their bellies and the only way they could get around was to bounce like rabbits across the yard. Hope everyone's safe and warm today!

Road trip

We're back from our little road trip to College Station and Houston. We had a fantastic time. Thank you, Logan and Adam, for letting us stay with you and for giving Tobin a very special (early) Easter. Now he'll know how to hunt for eggs and decorate them in a couple of weeks! We had such a great time with you guys and I can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks!!

Also, thank you, Lindsay and Bryan, for our fun time with you. Please tell your parents thank you again from us and I'm so excited to spend more time with you at the end of the month!

This is the Easter egg hunt. He wanted the egg by the plastic snake but was a little too nervous to get it himself. Daddy came to the rescue and helped him out.
