Calm after the storm

Well, in the previous post, I wrote about Tobin's stomach bug. It turns out that bug was a beast and it hit myself, Emerson, Emerson's dad, my mother-in-law, and my own mom, in that order. We are praying that it doesn't get to Matt because we are leaving town tomorrow for a wedding in Houston. I've sanitized the house the best I can and we're using Purell like it's water.

Now that we're feeling better, we've had a great week. Tobin got some big boy sheets a couple of weeks ago since he gave up his paci (yahoo!!). Here he is showing them off. This pictures isn't from this week but it was a big deal in our house and this is a miscellaneous post so here it is...

Speaking of beds, Matt's brother, Sean (a Rooms to Go manager), won a new mattress at a conference and has generously donated it to us. We are incredibly grateful and are sleeping like royalty! We are also very thankful to Penny for braving the North Texas wind and Grapevine's confusing roads when bringing it home for us. Here's a picture of our HUGE new bed (it's so tall it comes up to my waist)...

Here's where our old mattress currently is until we figure out what to do with it...Yes...it takes up his entire room but he's loving it and it's a great way to get some of that little boy energy out!!

Tomorrow we're headed for College Station for a crazy time with Logan and Adam then to Houston for our friends, Jana and Greg's, wedding. Please pray for our safety and I'm sure we'll have lots of fun pictures to post when we get back.
Have a great weekend!!!

Gypsy, movies, & a stomach bug

This was an interesting week for Tobin and I. On Tuesday, it was just the two of us since I didn't have Emerson (the little girl I keep during the week). First we went to the park to play and while we were there, we found a stray dog. I called the number on Gypsy's tag and the owner came to pick her up right away. Tobin was precious about the whole thing. He kept saying "We help Gypsy go home" and "I a hero!" I love hearing him talk about it.

After the park, we went to eat lunch with Matt at school. We've never done this before and it was a very nice treat for all of us.

Then we went home for a quick nap and as soon as Tobin woke up, we went to Frisco to see the Veggie Tales movie. This was Tobin's very first movie experience and I was a little nervous about how he'd handle the dark theater and loud sounds. When it first got dark and the screen came to life, he looked up at me nervously and I just said "Wow!" and then he said "wow!" and he was fine the rest of the movie. We got a small bag of popcorn and he devoured the entire thing throughout the movie. I think that was his favorite part...he even chose popcorn over M&Ms!! It made for a great mommy and Tobin afternoon!

We had a great rest of the week...playing with friends and enjoying the sporadic good weather. Then Friday hits. Tobin woke up from his nap and called out to me in a panic. I rushed into his room and he looked at me and says "Mommy, I spit." I look down at the little guy and he's covered in vomit. This is the first time we've encountered this as parents and it changed me. I just scooped him up, held him, and told him it was okay. He was scared and stinky and all I wanted to do was make him feel better. It's like diapers...you can handle your own kid's dirty stuff without any disgust or squeamishness. Anyway, he was sick all afternoon and into the night but by the time he could no longer keep his eyes open around 8:00, he seemed okay and was keeping the tummy medicine down. He went to bed and slept fine throughout the night and is gradually feeling better. It was quite an experience for me as a first time mom and one I know will repeat itself many times in the years to come. Now I know I can handle it and that all that matters is helping our little guy feel better... forget laundry and sanitizing the house!

Enough about our gross day...thanks for caring about us enough to read about it!!

Fort Worth Rodeo

This weekend we went to the Fort Worth Rodeo with Penny, Logan, Adam, and Ed. It was so much fun and, of course, Tobin loved every minute of it. His favorite phrase from the day was "cowboys so tough" and he loved the horses. In fact, he got to ride a pony at the carnival part of the rodeo. Here are some pictures from the day: Tobin on his pony ride. He was a little nervous at first and told his daddy "I hang on tight."We got to see Elsie, the Bordon cow. Then we got some chocolate milk from ol' Elsie.
We had a great day!!
