Back to Business

Now that I'm off bedrest, I'm through the sleepless nights that come with a newborn, and my house is back in working order after those two events, I'm back in the cake decorating business. In the last three weeks I've gotten to do three cakes and I've really enjoyed getting back to this hobby.

Three months

Hi there...I'm three months old today.  Can you believe it?!?  Here's what I like to do in my spare time:

• Munch on my hand when it is readily available but I tend to get frustrated when my thumb won't cooperate and get into my mouth
• Play with my hair when I'm tired or eating (it's really the cutest thing ever, or so my parents tell me)
• Watch my big brother bounce around the house and giggle when he comes to talk/sing to me
• Play peek-a-boo with mommy...she surprises me every time
• Talk to daddy about life...he's a great listener
• Sit upright and watch the world going on around me...I especially like watching the dogs
• Stare and laugh at the ceiling light along with my friends on my play gym
• Oh yeah...I LOVE to eat and I'm a pretty good sleeper for mom and dad

Family vacation

Last week we went on a family vacation to Houston and Galveston.  We left on Monday and came back late Friday night and had a terrific time!  We started our trip by staying a couple of days with my cousin, Logan, and her new hubby, Adam.  We went swimming, played in the sprinklers, ate chilled watermelon and cherries, and enjoyed some great company:

Next, we drove to Galveston.  We went to Moody Gardens and enjoyed the Aquarium and Rainforest, along with the Bones and Dinosaur exhibits at the museum:

Of course, we went to the beach and had a great time swimming, hunting for shells, and building sand castles.  Heidi even got in on the action and loved playing in the water.  She would start kicking her feet every time the waves washed over her legs.

We rounded out our vacation with a trip across the bay on the Boliver Ferry and a visit with Matt's grandparents in Port Arthur:

We had a great time and made lots of memories.  I'll write a post soon about some hilarious lines straight from Tobin's mouth.  We had tons of laughs and enjoyed having so much time as a family!

More summer stuff

Since my last post, Matt celebrated his 28th birthday on the 16th.  We had lots of yummy food including Joes Crab Shack on his actual birthday and German food from his favorite place in Plano with my parents.  Here's some pictures from our German feast:

Also, we had a great July 4th this year.  Tobin was fired up about fireworks and his first big show was all that he anticipated.  Always the encourager, his first words after the fireworks ended was "Great job, Sky!"

Lastly, Heidi had her two month check-up this morning.  She was a trooper through three shots and was very cooperative and happy during the doctor's check (her big brother would always immediately start crying as soon as he was undressed and then cry through the entire check-up).  She weighed 10 pounds, 5 ounces (40th percentile) and was 22.5 inches long (50th percentile).  Here she is telling me all about her visit:

Start of summer

Summer is here for the Smith family!  One of the best parts of Matt's job as a teacher is the fact that he is home most of the summer...who can beat that?!?  He has a few volleyball camps and teaches a class at UNT, but for the most part, we have two months filled with family time!  It is such a treat!!  Here's what we've been up to so far...

We went to a fantastic birthday party for a playgroup friend.  The little guy turned three and got his own pony which all the kids got to ride.  Tobin had a wonderful time with all of his closest friends...

A much needed update

Hi there!  I apologize for the lack of blogging and pictures.  We have been very busy this month and have a few pictures to prove it.  My sister was in town from London last week and we were thrilled to spend so much time with them.  To say Tobin had a BLAST would be an understatement.  He picked up right where he left off with his cousins as if it has only been days, instead of months, of not seeing one another.  Here are some pictures of our time with them:

Last weekend my cousin, Logan, got married.  It was a beautiful wedding and we had lots of fun.  Sadly, I didn't get any pictures of Tobin (he was a ring bearer) in his tux before we sent him off to bed.  I'll try to track some down later.

Here are some sweet pictures I took this morning.  Heidi is five weeks old and doing wonderful.  We've settled into being a family of four and we're loving every second of it!
