Blessings in Disguise

As of Monday, I have been placed on bedrest due to blood pressure problems. Depending on how you look at it, it could be a gift to be able to rest and be lazy all day, reading good books, watching good movies, and letting others serve you. On the other hand, this could be a nightmare (my initial reaction)! I have to give up control over my home/work space...I can't do things like laundry and cleaning when I want them done, the dishes are being put in the dishwasher different than how I like it, I have to humble myself and ask for help, I can't take Tobin to the park or go for a walk in order to get his little-guy energy out.

Not fun, right? Wrong! I have learned this week what a huge gift it is to be placed on bedrest these next few weeks until Heidi makes her debut. I'm able to sit on the bed and play board games with Tobin, cuddle up and read book after book with him, play catch from the couch, and watch him delight in getting my constant and undivided attention instead putting off his needs/wants to do laundry, clean, or run errands. What a blessing!!

I feel as if this is a true gift to be spending this time with Matt and Tobin instead of tending to the tedious tasks of keeping a home running smoothly. Who cares if there's a cluster of dog hair and dust in the corner...it can wait. Who cares if laundry is not being folded according to my standards...let it go. I'm learning a lot about priorities this week and am grateful for these lessons before our little girl comes and our lives get the slightest more complicated.

Thank you, Lord, for showing me the importance of being a Mary instead of a Martha! I'm enjoying this much, much more!!

What a great post!

I'm praying for you that everything goes well the next few weeks and that you have a safe delivery...

...and hoping that maybe being on bedrest and not having to do dishes and housework will give you a chance to post pictures of Heidi's room. *wink wink*

Oh yes, and book suggestions: Marley and Me, Jane Eyre, The Boys (by John Tepestura) Those are my recent reads which I've enjoyed immensely.
